Director and Curator, Astrid Martinez-Jones
Astrid Martinez-Jones was born in Cuba and has lived in California, Italy, Chile, Mexico, Uganda, New Jersey, and now resides in the Boston/Cambridge area. She has a Masters Degree in Multicultural Studies and is the Director and founder of Latin Art Space, dedicated to promoting Latin art and culture, creating cultural awareness through the arts. She began collecting art with her husband in 1995, and in 2007 founded Latin art Space in New Jersey to celebrate and share the thoughts and expressions of artists from Latin America and East Africa.
Latin Art Space offers a unique selection of contemporary artworks, specializing in limited-edition etchings, screen prints, and woodcuts from well-known and emerging Cuban and Mexican artists, as well as a large selection of watercolors and oils from East African artists. The following services are also offered to private and corporate collectors, museums, galleries, universities and art aficionados:
- sales and placement of artwork
- leasing of artwork for receptions, galas, corporate events, special occasions (Hispanic Heritage Month)
- art viewing receptions at cultural venues, organizations, and private homes
- corporate gifts
Latin Art Space is currently in the process of organizing art workshops for students in Oaxaca, Mexico and La Habana, Cuba; and Art and Culture Tours to Cuba under the People-to-People Exchange License in the Fall 2012.
Many of the works offered at Latin Art Space where created under the direction and expertise of Cuban Master Printer Luis Miguel Valdes.
